Medicare Prescription Coverage and Pharmacy Networks

Medicare prescription coverage depends on the specific plan. Part D plans and Medicare Advantage plans with drug coverage can use formularies, pharmacy networks, preferred pharmacies, copays, coinsurance, deductibles, and other plan rules.

Medigap is different. Medicare states that Medigap policies sold after 2005 do not include prescription drug coverage; people who want drug coverage can enroll in a separate Medicare drug plan when eligible.
